Did you know that it is perfectly normal for a baby from 0-6 months to wake up every 20 minutes - often to cry? Do you worry about upsetting your 2 year-old, who refuses to go to sleep without another story? Did you know that every child will experience night-time fears at a different age? Do you need guidance on how to negotiate bed-times, or wonder how to get your child to bed at all? Regular sleep patterns - for children and adults - are an essential key to managing the rest of our lives. The earlier in their lives that regular sleep can be established, the easier children will find it for the rest of their lives. Dr John Pearce demystifies the rituals of sleeping. He explains to hassled parents how natural sleep rhythms alter over time, what sort of behaviour is natural at various ages, when to use strict discipline, at what age to negotiate instead of dictate, when to turn a deaf ear to playing up and when to take note of the clear signs of illness, depressions, fear or anxiety. Full of clear guidlines for positive and constructive action - this book is a godsend for parents of children - from 0-4 and beyond.
If your child isn't sleeping through the night, the chances are neither are you. But help is at hand from one of Britain's leading child psychiatrists. Now fully updated, THE NEW BABY AND TODDLER SLEEP PROGRAMME takes the agony out of bedtime and explains how a calm and peaceful sleep routine is possible with any child from a very early age. Regular sleep patterns are an essential part of normal childhood development and the earlier in their lives that sleep can be 'sorted' the easier children will find the rest of their lives. THE NEW BABY AND TODDLER SLEEP PROGRAMME demysifies sleeping habits. It explains to hassled parents how sleep rythms alter over time, what sort of behaviour is natural at various ages, when to be strict and when to make allowances, when to turn deaf ears to tears - and how to recognise the important signs of illness, distress, fear or anxiety.
J. F. Godoy was born in 1950, in Chile. He has been living in Canada for a long period of time. He has had to face a rather complicated life, which has made him wonder why, as he did not ask to be born. The son of a modest family, he has struggled to survive in this world, in which the only thing is certain for the human being is death.
This book is a reflection of my heritage with horses. It comes from both sides of the saddle, so to speak, because both of my grandfathers were excellent horsemen. One grandpa was Cherokee and rode with the Kiowa horsemen in the early days of Indian Territory. They call it Oklahoma today. He gave credit to the Kiowa people for our unique way of working with a mare in-foal in order to blend our spirit with the foal. My other grandpa was an early day cattleman in Indian Territory and was known for his good-minded cutting and roping horses. I was blessed to have been born into this rich mix of horse and cow savvy. As a kid I was careful to take the best of both worlds, the Indian World and the Cowboy World, and develop my way of working with horses. The horses and mules like it. The day-to-day steps of working with the foal and mare ensured a lifetime of harmony with that horse. Each of the 37 chapters takes the reader or rider through each progressive training phase, emphasizing the easy, patient way the movements should be presented to the horse. The spirit blending starts with the mare first then progresses to the unborn foal. This special attention is continued right through the birthing process with the highlight coming at two years of age when the young horse is ridden for the first time. The foal is first taught to lead and "soft" tie at one and two days old. By the time it reaches two years of age it has been taught to readily load into a trailer, stand tied, yield to rope pressure from each leg, stand tied with a snubbed down head, back on voice and body cues, and to be ground led across country as well as ponyied from the mare. I term the essential ingredient of my technique, once the foal is born, "assurance pressure". It creates a sound foundation and willing mind in a horse. It is the glue that holds the spiritual blend together. It lasts for a lifetime with your horse. Praise for Spirit Blending Foals Before and After Birth, An Old Way Continued Dear Mr. Wadley: I LOVE your book Spirit Blending Foals Before and After Birth, An Old Way Continued. It is a priceless bit of Western History, and horsemanship, and equine behavior... Robert M. Miller, D.V.M. (Thousand Oaks, CA)
Love and World War II come inexorably together as never before in Jacqueline Barry’s new romantic, historical novel, Fortunes of Fate. Four young women from small town America are drawn together in wartime Washington, DC where they have been recruited for jobs in the U.S. War Department. Excited, new to the ways of the big city and romance and anxious to be part of their country’s new struggle, our heroines are swept up in the drama, romance, heroism and tragedy of World War II. Foremost in the hearts, triumphs and tribulations of these four friends are their men—soldiers, pilots, lovers and husbands, torn from the women they love by the passions and fevers of war, and by the fateful crucible of history in the making. Fortunes of Fate sweeps us along with these young heroines through many of the most dramatic and historic landmarks of World War II. From Pearl Harbor, through the European and Pacific theaters, to ultimate Allied victory, the loves, joys and sorrows of these four unique women, and the men they hold dear, are woven into a gripping tapestry that will keep you eagerly reading to Fortunes of Fate’s startling yet satisfying conclusion.
The events that occur in this book are actual experiences that the author has encountered in her journey through life. The book addresses the pain and agony that some women face and the deliverance that God provides them. The experiences that Maria has endured has allowed her to minister to others that have gone through the same tragedies that she has. She is able to minister to others because she now has the knowledge that God is still with her in the midst of everything. With every good and bad experience God has become an even greater part of her life. He became her teacher, her Father, her best friend and her everything. In her own words she states, "He has become more to me than I could have ever imagined. He has been a father leading me from childhood to adulthood. He has taught me, through many tests and trials, all the things I know today. I thank Him that He is in control of every area of my life."
