The third book in Eugene Peterson 's momentous five-volume conversation on spiritual theology, The Jesus Way considers the way of the Lord that became incarnate and complete in Jesus. Arguing that the way Jesus leads and the way we follow are symbiotic, Peterson challenges the ways of the contemporary American church, showing how they often obliterate what is unique in the Jesus way. This helpful study guide is designed to enable small groups in schools or churches ? or even individuals ? to delve deeper into the timely wisdom of The Jesus Way . Peterson's discussion is broken up here into eleven sessions, each of which contains a summary, a list of key adjectives, quotations to consider, and questions for interaction, ending with a select prayer from one of several traveling companions on the Jesus way.,

In this five-week video Bible study (DVD/downloads sold separately), Pastor Louie Giglio invites us to meet God in both our intellect and our hearts by uncovering what history and Scripture have to say about Jesus. Throughout the study, we’ll witness how Jesus appeared and shaped the landscape of history, just as he shapes the landscape of our lives for eternity. You believe Jesus is God. But do you also think of him as a real person? For thirty-three years Jesus felt everything that we have ever felt: weakness, weariness, rejections. His feelings got hurt. His feet grew tired. His head ached. To think of Jesus in such terms almost seems irreverent. It is much easier to keep the humanity out of the incarnation. Clean up the manure from around the manger. Pretend he never snored or hit his thumb with a hammer. There is something about keeping Jesus divine that keeps him distant, packaged, and predictable. But we have to remember that the people who saw Jesus first . . . saw him first as a person. As Max Lucado reveals in this video Bible study, because Jesus became human, it is now possible for us to see God and hear his voice. If we want to know what matters to God, all we need to do is look in the Bible to see what matters to Jesus. If we want to know what God is doing in our world, we need only ponder the words of Jesus. By learning more about the person Jesus was and is, we come to understand more clearly the people we were created to be. Jesus inspires us to spend time at the foot of the cross and search the heart of the one who would rather die for us than live without us. The Jesus Study Guide includes video teaching notes, discussion questions, Bible exploration, and weekly personal study and reflection materials. Sessions include: God with Us Friend of Sinners Compassionate Physician Great Teacher Miracle Worker Victorious Sacrifice Designed for use with the Jesus Video Study (9780310105855); sold separately. David is the paradigmatic king in the Old Testament. His kingship recalls that of Adam in the Garden of Eden, and yet it points toward the King par excellence, Jesus Christ. In David the King, Bishop Barron helps us to understand this pivotal figure in light of the first king and the King of kings. Adam was the first king and steward of the rightly ordered Garden of Eden. He was called to govern the garden according to God's mind and purpose, but by allowing negative influences to wreak havoc on Eden, he did not fulfill his kingly responsibility. Long after Adam, David emerged as the definitive king who would restore order in the Garden and bring the world under the lordship of God. But like Adam, David fell, and his reign ushered in a succession of compromised kings and rejected prophets. The Scriptures, however, foretold a son of David who would realize the fullness of Israelite kingship . . . but whose actual reign defied expectation.
A remarkable gift can arrive in an unremarkable package. One did in Bethlehem more than 2,000 years ago. No one expected God to come the way he did. Yet the way he came was every bit as important as the coming itself. The manger is the message. In this four-session video Bible study, Max Lucado explores how the One who made everything chose to make himself nothing for us. He experienced hunger and thirst. He went through the stages of human development. He was taught to walk, stand, and wash his face. He was completely and genuinely human. Because of Bethlehem, we no longer have marks on our record . . . just grace. We have the promise that God is always near us, always for us, always within us—and that we have a friend and Savior in heaven. Long after the guests have left, the carolers have gone home, and the lights have come down, these promises endure. The Because of Bethlehem Study Guide includes video discussion questions, Bible exploration, and personal study and reflection materials for in-between sessions. Session Titles: God Has a Face Worship Works Wonders God Guides the Wise Every Heart a Manger Designed for use with Because of Bethlehem: A DVD Study 9780310687849 (sold separately).
