Excerpt from The Earth and the Fullness Thereof: A Romance of Modern Styria On next New Year's Eve I shall appear before you, in a night-cap and armed with a pitchfork. I shall not work one hour beyond my time, even should half of this January elapse before I find a situation. Try hard? Of course I shall. In der Zusen is the name of the little nest where, seated at the inn table, I am writing my first news to you, my mourning friends. Yesterday I was rejected at two farmhouses where I applied for work. To-day is a holiday. To my polite request at the first farm I received the reply: Look here! In summer cherries grow and in winter vagabonds! Doubtless you gentlemen of the road would be glad to find a snug berth and a full dish at New Year's; but later, when the snow goes you '11 go too, and when the hard labour in the fields is most needed we should be left in the lurch. You 'd better join the Social Democrats! Perhaps you are one already! And the door was slammed in my face. It was a fine, large farm, situated on the high-road. It is a pity that they would not take me there. However, I secured material for a brilliant article on farming at no less than twenty Kreuzer a line. It will cost me as much as that. "There are some things when we miss them in life, it won't matter what else we gained. There are some things when we gain them, it won't matter what else we missed... and no greater wisdom can we discover than this, and the greatest wisdom is to discover our purpose in life! The day you discover God's purpose for your life, you will cease to be using your your efforts but His. You will no longer use your strength but His. You will no longer be using your wisdom in what you are doing but His. You will no longer use your approach to issues of your life but His, for you have discovered His assignment for your life! Your assigmnent in life is never far from you, but it could be far from your focus. Always change your focus to discover what is God's purpose for your life! Wealth is not your purpose, it is a slice of it. Fame is not your purpose, it is a slice of it. Power is not your purpose, it is a slice of it and until you discover your purpose, the slices will keep distracting you from God's plan for your life! Let no attraction; either the attractions of money, fame or power distract you from pursuing your purpose in life! The attractions that cannot distract you at the early stage of your struggles in discovering your purpose in life, will serve you at its later stage! Trying to do like everybody else might not be your purpose. Trying to do what people like may not be your purpose. Trying to do as you are told may not be your purpose. Trying to to impress the people around you, may not be your purpose. Discovering your purpose in life will give you a picture of where your tomorrow will be. It will give you the right mentality to achieving a breakthrough in life. Because whenever the journey of your struggles starts to bog down, you cannot breakthrough with the wrong mentality that sees you from a picture of where you found yourself. You can only go forward with a right mentality of the picture of where your tomorrow will be. And when tomorrow comes and you see yourself in great victory, you will then realise that what is needed is not to thank God for answered prayers but to apologise to Him for the times we go about in behaviours that shows He was not faithful to us! A feeling in actions and activities that shows He might not really have cared about our situation!" I came to the point that I planned to stop the show for the day. "My dear listeners, always have a positive attitude to whatever you are going through in life and keep to the path and action that will carry you to your victory in life. You can't get an answer by following a formula half way. You can't get an answer by following a formula the wrong way. The formula ensures that we do away with anything that is stopping us from achieving our victory in life. Most times, it is the presence of some little things that is denying the coming of some wonderful things in our lives... HE CHANGES PEOPLE'S LIVES THROUGH HIS MOTIVATIONAL
This writing was left unpublished at Swedenborg's death, although it had apparently been carefully prepared for publication. Except towards the end it is almost exclusively an exposition of the spiritual sense of Scripture. Not only is every phrase in the Apocalypse (as far as covered) separately explained, but thousands of passages, gathered from all parts of the Word, are quoted and expounded. These expositions close with the tenth verse of the nineteenth chapter. Towards the end extended doctrinal discussions are introduced. Both for its exposition of passages of Scripture and for its doctrinal statements this is an exceedingly important and valuable work. It is especially instructive in its expositions of the Psalms, the Prophets, and the Gospels.
The book - as I waka for Naija: The More Things Change, the More they Remain the Same and The Adventures of SST, is a collection of positive comedy stories and inspirational excerpts to entertain and motivate the reader as he reads through. It involves fictional characters; events and deals on the common happenings in the complex but interesting country Nigeria fondly called Naija by some of its citizens which are portrayed in some areas of the book as Namuland.
This book is about the great wealth transfer that is now occurring. The wealth is being taken out of the hands of ungodly people, and it is now being placed in the hands of the believing Christians who, by faith and grace, have received the wealth and riches of the earth. This wealth transference is an ongoing occurrence orchestrated by God Almighty through his son, Jesus Christ.
Chapter 3 The First Judgment: The World Prior To Adam There may have been many judgments upon the earth since its beginning millions or billions of years ago; however, the present commentary will deal only with the last tens of thousands of years of earth’s existence. In Genesis 1:2, the verses written by Moses (as author of the Genesis account) portray an earth that was veiled in darkness so that its form could not be discerned. The earth at that time was covered with water (ice) high above the mountain tops so that it gave the appearance of being a dark revolving sphere of frozen water (Table-2). God’s spirit is described as hovering over this revolving ball of water and brooding over the sad condition of this dark, void planet. God did not create a dark and dismal planet at the beginning, because God does not create darkness; in fact, darkness is incompatible with His existence and presence. So what had happened that God viewed (Gen. 1:2) such a decrepit state of the world? Does scripture attempt to explain this phenomenon, or does the inspired word of God remain silent on this issue? It was first proposed as a theory by the Scotsman Thomas Chalmers in the early 19th century that a “gap” in time existed between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2. This gap-in-time would encompass a “ruin-reconstruction theme” and the existence of pre-Adamic living beings. Obviously, a huge catastrophic event would have had to occur to produce this decadent state of the world. The “gap concept” was later popularized by mention in the margin notes of the Scofield Reference Bible.
You are about to embark upon a simple and impartial account of Judaism on the one hand, and a perusal of the Gospels on the other, constituting one of the most convincing proofs of the Divine origin of the Christian religion, and of its organic connection with that of the Old Testament. Again, it is impossible to read the Gospel narrative in the light of Jewish history without feeling that the notions and circumstances to which it alludes, are exactly those of the time in which Jesus Christ lived and taught on earth. They apply to that period, and to that period only. The notions, the modes of speaking, the opposition and its very manner, to which the New Testament refers, are exactly those of that period. If a copy of the Gospels were put into the hands of an impartial Jewish historian, he could not fail to discover that the events there chronicled must have taken place exactly at the time when, according to Christian belief, Jesus walked among men. This is the legacy of A. Edersheim.
As the church in the West is found to be mostly dead and covered with Laodicean lukewarm vomit, as The Lord, slips the dead things silently over the side of the storm tossed ship into the dark oblivion of the waves of secular humanism and rising Islam, what remains will need to be fortified with steel to live in a quickly changing anti-Christian world of persecution. There is no better prophecy more equipped to speak to such a remnant who shall be so very besieged. Welcome to Habakkuk, 35 of 66, a prophecy for our time. Volume II contains Anne Dutton's once well-known and widely circulated A Discourse upon Waling with God (1735). Once read and referred to by George Whitefield, it contains spiritual insights for practical daily living. Dutton's hymns and poetry are also included in this volume. Dutton's poetry, A Narration of the Wonders of Grace (1734), was a prominent publication in her day. It contained 1,504 lines of poetry in six parts based on themes of salvation. Her biographer, J.C. Whitebrook, referred to it as her chief literary production. Sixty-one of Dutton's hymns composed on several subjects are also included in that volume. Her biographer, J.A. Jones, noted that these were written for plain and homely folk in the midland countries. Dutton's contribution to evangelical spirituality, poetry, and hymnody in the Baptist tradition is significant.
Most Bible students are aware of the use of numbers in scripture. The number 7 is a prime example, with its connotations of perfection and completeness. The study of numbers as used in the Bible is infrequent, and the Lord's people, therefore, miss some of that which is profitable for correction and instruction in the Word of God. This volume goes a long way toward correcting the deficiency by providing a great introduction to the subject and showing that these patterns provide proof of the completeness and inspiration of the Holy Scriptures. The reader will find profit as well as inspiration from this intriguing study.
